Italy Day 3

This morning we rose late again like yesterday and had breakfast before visiting the pool. I remember from school trips abroad about foreign resorts being a bit fussy with pool rules and the one we're staying in is no different. To Yaz and Katie's disgust it is policy for everyone to wear swimming hats whilst in the water, I presume this is to avoid hair going into the pool filters. I found this to be hilarious, although quite ridiculous seeing as they didn't provide any such protection for the hairy backs and chests of the sweaty Italian men using the facilities!

As a cheaper alternative to staying in a hotel we have chosen to accommodate ourselves at a city center campsite called Nube D'Argento. We have rented a 4 bed bungalow, similar to a wooden ski lodge or chalet. It is situated in an orchard of Lemon, Lime, Orange and Olive trees and has a variety of other plants and fruits such as grapes and blackberries. It is nicely shaded and cool here and it is less than a 5 minute walk to the shops and about 7-10 minutes to the centre of town.

We have a kitchen with fridge, hob and sink and a fully equipped bathroom. Towels and bins are changed daily and the restaurant has stunning views across to Mount Vesuvius, not to mention truly Italian hand made pizzas. The biggest bonus is that we pay €30pppn compared to about €140pppn in the neighbouring hotels.

Right now as I write this blog post I sit comfortably outside our chalet with a glass of Ice Tea and listen to the bustling of the nearby port and town as a rather large sounding storm heads in this direction. Everyone else has adapted to the continental way of life by retiring for a siesta.
