Antigua Day 10

Antigua Day 10 - 10/08/09

After a long sleepless and sweaty night we rose and headed to Carlisle Bay, this time by land. We picked up some roadside pineapples along the way and parked in the shade of a coconut palm.

After anchoring in Carlisle Bay the day before it was really nice to see it from land and enjoy the beach as well as it's turtle filled waters. We had forgotten our snorkeling gear so we made use of the palm fringed white sands and luscious blue sea at the shore.

Bored of sunbathing and lazing about, Angus and I set ourselves the mission of getting some coconuts from the trees around us. We tried and failed in climbing, knocking, poking and shaking them down but eventually succeeded with a lasso technique. When it dropped with a thud in the sand we celebrated like starving thirsty castaways to the laughter of everyone else, including some locals.

The next hour or so was spent trying to work out how to open the god damn thing!!

In the evening as we were sat around chatting the cat, Fluffy, brought in a HUGE rat and laid it down on the living room floor. The thing was bigger than the cats head and still warm. Of course the girls went crazy and Tony and I removed it with great difficulty and comedy.
